We began the script-writing process by developing a central message – leave the drama up to the cats.

Junkie Studio was tasked with creating two CTV spots to introduce Tuft and Paw’s new hero SKU Odorstop (a part of their Really Great Cat Litter line). Not only was it their first time unveiling this new product, but it was also their first time revealing their refreshed brand packaging and identity.

The project encompassed creative strategy, visual identity development, script writing, and video production.

Talking about cat litter usually brings up the less enjoyable side of cat ownership. For Tuft and Paw’s first foray into CTV spots, we wanted to shift the focus away from odours, messes, and dust, and instead celebrate the more lovable side of living with cats. Within the constraints of a 30-second spot, our goal was to signal that cat litter can actually make space for what people value most—more time with their cats.

So we introduced our favourite fuss-free litter as the simple solution to a drama-free clean-up, leaving the real drama to our cats.

Our vision for these spots was to capture moments that feel humorously relatable to cat owners: putting on your favourite sweater only to realize it’s covered in cat hair; watching your cat casually knock something off the table; or trying to get through an important meeting while your cat plants itself directly in front of the camera.

The goal was to build an emotional connection between cat owners and the brand by spotlighting the small, relatable moments of life with cats—setting the stage for Really Great Cat Litter and its functional benefits.

We collaborated with professional cat wrangler Melissa from Ultimutts to plan and coordinate the shots, ensuring a smooth process on the day of the shoot. In the lead-up, we had several conversations about what would be realistically achievable for Sashimi (the adorable Bengal), what might present challenges, and the best ways to motivate her on set—including different cues, techniques, and tricks to help capture the desired moments.
